I love little girls with lots of hair but it's hard for me to put hats on them.   This little girl was the perfect little model and allowed us plenty of modeling time with some cute hats and headbands.  She had the most perfect porcelain skin and chubby cheeks and pouty lips.

What's better than photographing newborns?   The answer to that would be twins.    The little angels Arden and Denver came this past weekend and they had a great session.  Arden had the most delicate features I've ever seen, the tiniest little lips and button nose.    Denver had the cutest cheeks and when you see the pictures just by that small description you should easily tell them apart.  You could see how much in love the parents are with these little miracles.

Robin Long: Purebaby Workshop Review

They say better late than never.......  This review is way overdue.  I had the pleasure of attending the Purebaby Workshop this past March in Clearwater, Florida.  I had decided last year that I wanted to attend one of Robin's workshops.   I had been following her work for a while and was convinced that this would be a great experience in helping me develop my newborn photography.    I looked at other workshops and quite frankly it's hard to make a decision.   I loved the fact that her work is different, I can see a picture and recognize Robin's work, that's kind of hard to say now days.   The workshop was two full days; we had 3 babies, and two maternity models.    We used natural light one day and studio lights the next day.  Robin not only handled the babies incredibly well, but was completely open with her experience and knowledge.   From the minute I walked in, Robin was standing at the door greeting everyone.   She made everyone feel at home.   The last day we also did some editing and she gave us our goody bags, which had one of her wraps, hats from some of her wonderful sponsors, and a multitude of photography related discount coupons.   It was obvious that a lot of thought was put, as there was a great selection of vendors.   We had information and discounts for prop stores, accounting software, business solutions, actions, etc.  Robin was also generous enough to give us the actions she uses in her workflow; these little actions have completely transformed my editing workflow.   I am now happily editing my galleries in one third of the time it used to take to complete.   The best part of this experience though has been the continued support beyond the workshop.   Although it has been 5 months since I last took the workshop she still keeps in touch with all of the class participants.   She created this open forum where she adds all of her attendees and continues to encourage us and the learning has continued beyond the class.   My favorite part was when she released a video of her personal workflow.   I think I have watched it at least five times.  Unfortunately we tend to forget some of the important things that she covers in the class but with her forum she ensures that if any questions come up or we need some further instruction on posing we still have access to her and her open forum.  She has been an incredible mentor and watching her continually try to make things better is inspiring.  I can honestly say that I've learned just as much from Robin and her forum these past five months as I did in the two day workshop.

When Pictures Move You.......

The picture that inspired me to specialize in newborn photography is from the sweetest twins ever.   The fact that they are insanely cute and a boy and girl were just the icing on the cake.   I always aspired to someday have my own photography business and after photographing these sweet twins I knew right there and then that the time had come.     When I saw their pictures on my screen I couldn't stop looking at them.   I always liked photographing babies and children but these sweet newborns made my heart smile.   I realized that for me newborn photography is incredibly special.   I realized that after all of the pictures that I have of my very own kids, the ones that I seem to treasure the most are the ones from when they were born.   Oh, and I have a lot, let me be clear about that, but I just think that their first portraits is something you treasure as much as your wedding pictures.   Becoming a parent is exciting and scary and it completely turns your world upside down, but once things settle you wake up and start seeing the world through their eyes.   On days that I photograph a newborn I feel refreshed, energized and very much alive, it's kind of like a reset/reboot button for me from the busy hectic lives we live.  There was one particular picture that I'd like to share from their session that is very special to me.   Every time I look at this picture something special happens, it takes me back to when my children were born and I can almost smell their sweet scent and I feel that peace that I felt when my days consisted of sleeping, nurturing, and bonding with my babies.    I think that is the most I've ever been at peace, it was like heaven on earth for me and I think you would agree.
